The best part of waking up last Saturday morning was knowing just what we’d be having for breakfast! Signs had been posted all around town for several weeks for the Annual Dundee Firefighters Pancake Breakfast, and we weren’t about to miss it. The event has been happening for over 50 years!
We waited in a long line to finally make it inside the apparatus, which was full to the gills with local supporters! The breakfast is one of the main fundraisers of the year for the volunteer firefighters, and the funds raised go toward the Volunteer Firefighters Capital Purchase Project as well as the Christmas Toy & Joy Program.
Just look at all those happy people!
Every firefighter was participating in the event from flipping pancakes, to cooking eggs and ham, to filling up coffee cups! It was so much fun to see all of the little kids looking up to all the firefighters…these guys are all so friendly and such an important part of our community.
Breakfast was fantastic! Sometimes I forget just how much I actually enjoy pancakes. Especially since they were served with a nice slice of ham, an egg over easy, and orange juice!
I heard some rough numbers earlier this week, and it sounds like the firefighters served about 700 guest and made just over $4,000.
Pretty impressive numbers…too bad they don’t do pancake breakfasts every Saturday morning, a girl could get use to that!
