Argyle Winery is always popular with our group of friends, and we’re lucky that it’s located right in the heart of downtown Dundee. Like many other wineries, they had a special tasting set up for Memorial Day weekend and I’m so glad we went!
The tasting room is located in an old Victorian house right off of OR99W that’s surrounded by a lush garden and outdoor patio space for guests to enjoy a glass of wine. You barely even know that the bustling activity of OR99W is just on the other side of the hedge.
For Memorial Day Weekend they had a special tasting set up in the Breeze Way and the Crush Pad where you tasted five wines as you meandered through the property. They had outdoor patio lights strung down the breeze way and the lights were turned down low to set the mood. This was by far one of my favorite tasting experiences from the weekend!
Cheese parings were also provided with some of the wines. We tried Cacio de Roma from Italy, Mahon from Spain, and my favorite was the Dolaner Gouda from Denmark.
Checking out all of the wine making equipment was also really interesting since you hardly ever get to see how wine is made. It felt like we were getting an inside exclusive pass to the winery. I was fascinated by the de-stemming machine. Confession, yes I am an engineer, and the de-stemming machine had the wheels turning in my brain!
The tasting at Argyle Winery was the perfect combination of good friends and a great glass of wine! I especially enjoyed the 2010 Brute Rosé on a wonderfully sunny afternoon! Cheers!
