Living in a small town certainly has its benefits. Unlike living in the City where neighbors seem to pass each other like ships in the night, in a small town you get to know your neighbors. We actually know almost every single one of our neighbors, which in my opinion, is pretty darn impressive!
So when we learned that one of our neighbors was heading out of town and needed someone to watch their chickens, we were more than happy to help out.
These gals were social butterflies and were happy to see us every. single. day. They’d start squawking when they spotted us, and of course I had to chime in and talk back. Doesn’t everyone talk to their pets?
“Well hello there pretty girls, you’re looking lovely today!”
Lovely indeed, who doesn’t love pets that produce tasty food, have delightful personalities, and eat up all the bugs that hangout in gardens?
Each hen produced an egg a day, and I’d say watching chickens was well worth the effort! Fresh chicken eggs are so much better than store bought eggs.
Three cheers for fantastic neighbors, small town living, and fresh eggs!
