The great part about small town living is that when a new business opens, it becomes all the buzz around town. Since moving to Dundee we’ve seen a handful of new businesses open and it’s pretty clear that this town is growing!
The latest talk has been all about the Deception Brewing Company! It’s only been open a few weeks, and we’ve already been twice. The first time we went to try out the beer, and we had to go back when we learned they’d be serving food by Red Hills Market.
The space is great for kicking back with friends to watch a ball game or some World Cup action.
I really like the window into the brew room. This isn’t the best picture due to the glare, but being able to check out all of the equipment and watch the process of making beer is super cool!
The first time we went to Deception Brewing, The Renaissance Man and I wanted to try all the beers on tap so we ordered the sampler. We shared the Apricot Cream Ale, Red Hills Pale Ale, Menage á Hop IPA, and the Ragged Rocks Cascadian Dark Ale (CDA). My favorites were the Apricot Cream Ale and the Menage á Hop IPA! Deception is also actively adding different beers to the rotation and I’m excited to try their Rose Hip Saison, which is coming soon!
The summer pub food menu is unlike any pub food I’ve seen before. Seriously, who’s had wild boar pot pie at a pub?
We started off sharing the AMAZING Spanish Corn Nuts. They have the perfect amount of salt and crunch, I love corn nuts!
Deception was packed on a Friday night!
For dinner The Renaissance Man ordered the wild boar pot pie. I had to try a bite given that I’ve never had wild boar before, and man was it good. So much flavor in such a little pie, how do they do it?
We also shared the cheese plate…so much cheesy goodness. I’m not sure what type of cheese that was in the middle, but it was slightly hard, salty, and had a such depth of flavor, I didn’t even need bread.
For dessert, The Renaissance Man ordered the brownie made with Deception’s Cascadian Dark Ale. And according to The Renaissance Man this brownie was “epic.” The brownie had a velvety mousse like texture with rich chocolate frosting. We have a friend that is particularly fond of brownies, and we’ll be making a point to bring him by Deception when he gets back from traveling.
It was a great Friday night, and as we walked home I snapped one last picture of the Brewery glowing along Hwy 99. Deception Brewery sure is a welcomed additional to the neighborhood, because sometimes when you live in wine country all you really want is a nice cold beer!
