As I mentioned in by previous post…I took the summer off blogging, but I still managed to take lots of pictures! I’ve decided to try and incorporate some “flashback” events into my weekly blog post so that you too can enjoy the Dundee summer!
And it wouldn’t be summer without the Fueled by Fine Wine Half Marathon!
The starting blocks are about a five minute walk from our house, so I got up early on Sunday to watch the start of the race! Do you spot the hot air balloon? It was a perfect summer morning for ballooning!
Last year we volunteered to work a water station, and we would have done the same this year if we didn’t already have afternoon commitments. The weather this year was way better…the runners didn’t have to compete with rainy thunder storm. Eventually the low clouds cleared and it was a beautiful sunny day!
Hanging out at the staring blocks is a bit of nerve racking experience. You can feel the excitement in the air as the runners handed off sweaters and belongings to their “adoring fans” a.k.a family and friends who support running!
The fastest runners lined up at the front line…and they were all business!
With the sound of an air horn they were off!
Run! Run! Run!
Run! Run! Run!
And up the hill they went! This is one of many hills the race course is known for…believe me, you earn your wine if you manage to make it to the end of this race.
And within minutes the last of the runners headed up the hill…only 13 more miles to go!
