Since moving to Dundee last August, we’ve uncovered many reasons that make us love this town. So much love that I decided to start this blog. Dundee is an amazing place! One of the more magical events occurred when we discovered the hot air balloons.
About a week after we had moved into our house, we woke up early one morning and gracefully floating by our kitchen window as we drank tea were four colorful hot air balloons. I remember looking at The Renaissance Man and asking “Is this really happening right now?” For a second I thought I might have been dreaming.
And yet almost every summer weekend, the hot air balloons would arrive with the morning sun and float by moving whatever way the wind takes them. Sometimes they stay right over the river and other times they head south down the valley. It’s a treat to see them, and I’ve caught myself several times resting my eyes on the balloons and letting my mind wander.
On this Friday morning, I’m at home from work. We’re getting some windows replaced today and so I’ve had a relaxing morning drinking tea, doing laundry, and watching the news. And then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the balloons! I was like a kid on Christmas morning, but instead of running for presents under the tree, I ran to the window and then for my camera! We only had two balloons this morning, but they made my day.
What a lovely way to kickoff a beautiful weekend. I don’t think the sun will hold, but I got to see the balloons and that means that summer days are just around the corner! Happy Friday!
