Our garden last year was the first in our new home. We had all sorts of backyard projects going on, so unfortunately our garden didn’t get the attention that it probably deserved, and our herb garden didn’t even get touched! This is what the “herb garden” looked like most of last summer…see empty concrete rectangle under the corner windows?
What a difference a few months can make…as you may be able to tell, we have filled up the planter bed with rich soil and selected a bunch of different herbs to fill in this space. This planter is the designated herb garden because it’s close to the kitchen and makes for easy access if you need a few sprigs of something fresh!
We purchased all of our herbs this year from Al’s Garden in Sherwood. We had originally hoped to start things from seed, but with such an early Spring, time got away from us a bit. Just look how healthy everything looks!
In all, we planted Salem Rosemary, Creeping Rosemary, Flat Italian Parsley, French Thyme x2, Italian Oregano, Greek Oregano, Golden Oregano, Sage Berggarten, Mint Mojito x2, and Thai Basil x2. The plants look little now, but I have a feeling by mid-summer this planter bed will be overgrown with large plants and wonderful smells!
I’m ready to start grilling outdoors and making use of our herb garden!
[…] And this is a quick picture of our herb garden, it’s grown quite a bit from the last time I wrote about it. […]
