Who doesn’t love an Easter Egg Hunt? When I was a kid, Easter was my favorite holiday and I’m pretty sure it was because of the “hunt.” I was competitive even back then! Ha!
I had been seeing signs around town for the Annual Dundee Easter Egg Hunt, and so The Renaissance Man and I headed over to the Dundee Billick Park around 10am on Saturday to watch it all happen. Nothing beats seeing little kids exploring the wonder of something new. The event was put on by the Dundee Community Committee and they did an amazing job!
As we walked over to the park, families were streaming in from every direction and you could just feel the excitement in the air. The abundance of Easter Eggs was impressive!
It was great to see all of the Dundee Volunteer Fire Fighters helping out! Some of the kids were just as excited to see the Fire Fighters as they were to see the Easter Bunny.
Speaking of the Easter Bunny, he also made an appearance and was taking pictures with kids all morning. Can you spot him in this picture?
To start off the Easter Egg Hunt for “Kids 4 and Under” everyone did a group countdown…Ten…nine…eight…seven…six…five…four…three…two…one…go!
Watching little kids decide which Easter Eggs they wanted was priceless. Some only went after a certain color, other kids ran to the middle and worked back out to the edge, and others stayed close to the edge to make sure they didn’t get to far away from Mom and Dad.
Lots of parents got involved to help the little ones figure out just what to do.
After the little kids Easter Egg Hunt, it was time for the 5-7 year olds!
These kids were experienced Easter Egg Hunters and were talking strategy even before they got out on the field. Some “special eggs” with smiley faces were placed throughout the field and I heard lots of speculation about what these “special eggs” were going to look like.
And they’re off!
I honestly think my favorite part of this event besides watching the Easter Egg Hunt, was all of the fun colors of jackets and boots. Little kid clothing is so much more colorful than adult clothing! Can I be a kid again?
After the Easter Egg Hunt we walked over to Red Hills Market for brunch. And of course, I had to get one of these bird nest treats. My Mom use to make something similar when I was a little kids and these bird nests brought back fond memories, they’re also super tasty!
Fast forward to this morning, Happy Easter! I was in the process of boiling tea when I heard a strange noise outside. It sounded like a gas tank letting off air. Sure enough, I opened the back door, looked up, and to my surprise a Vista Hot Air Balloon was right over our house!
Last year we didn’t see the hot air balloons until Mother’s Day, but given our mild temperatures, it’s no surprise that the ballooning season has started early. They were so close both The Renaissance Man and I had fun waving and saying hello to the folks up in the basket. I still can’t believe I was up in a similar basket back in September!?
Even our cat Whiskey was checking out the balloons as they floated by the house. Here she is sitting in our kitchen window.
Happy Easter from The Dundee Hills! We hope you have a wonderful day!
