On a sunny Saturday afternoon in July, I decided to dust off my golf clubs and go hit the driving range. I grew up playing competitive junior golf and even played golf in college at Vanderbilt University on the Women’s Golf Team. Anchor Down! However, in the past few years my golf games hasn’t been given the attention it’s use to, but it always feels good to go and swing the club again.
We’re lucky that Chehalem Glenn Golf Course is so close to us! The golf course is owned and operated by the Chehalem Park and Recreation District and is a great venue.
The driving range is located on the south side of south side of E Fernwood Road in Newberg, and has about seventeen hitting bays. The range is also set up to hit off of grass, and I’m guessing they open up the grass during weekend mornings or during special events.
Nothing beats the feeling of hitting the perfect shot off grass!
In addition to the driving range, Chehalem Glenn has a couple of different chipping greens. One green even has well maintained bunkers to practice out of. I love practicing bunker shots! I guess that’s what happens when you grow up with your own personal bunker in your backyard, you crave sand!
I’ve heard all sorts of wonderful things about the golf course! It apparently has quite a bit of elevation change, but the greens run true and fast during the summer. I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t actually played Chehalem Glenn yet.
Shhhh…don’t tell.
When I do make it out to play all 18 holes, I’ll be sure to write an update and give my personal feedback about the golf course. Until then, fairways and greens!
