I am super excited to share a new restaurant we found in Carlton. On our adventure out to The Carlton Winemakers Studio we stopped in downtown Carlton to have a quick bite to eat and were super happy to find Farmers’ Plate & Pantry!
They not only have a menu with items sourced seasonally from local farms, but they also have an open pantry with all sorts of “Willamette Valley” goodies. I would totally come here to put together an Oregon care package!
The Renaissance Man and I shared the garlic knots as an appetizer…nothing beats garlic, butter, and fresh bread. They also gave us a nice little dish of homemade marinara sauce for dipping! It goes without saying, but everything is made and grown local and it was delicious!
The Renaissance Man had a very difficult decision to make when it came to lunch, the woman at the front counter raved about both the Fried Chicken and the Pizza…he went with the Italian Pizza, but I know we’ll be back again soon to try the Fried Chicken!
I went with the Watermelon Salad off the “Specials Menu” … and I seriously want to make this for dinner every single night this summer! The combination of sweet watermelon with the salty kalamata olives was perfection. I also really enjoyed the feta, onions, and sweet onion dressing. I have to be honest though, this salad was HUGE, and by the end I just picked off the watermellon from the top and left the remaining lettuce on the plate! ha!
If you find yourself in Carlton looking for some food, stop in. They have tasty food, friendly people, a lending library (love this!), and of course a long list of wine centric beverages!
