I’m excited to report on our very first garden! The Renaissance Man and I have both lived in apartments since college, and while we grew things in pots on our patios, we never had the space to do anything besides a tomato plant and strawberries.
This year we planted our garden in early May. I went all out with lettuces and we’ve got kale, spinach, butter lettuce, and arugula. We also planted carrots, parsnips, tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini, snow peas, and bush beans. I’ve been taking photos of the garden to record the progress, and we’ve just started eating some lettuce!
I used skewers and some left over clothes pins from
the wedding to create little signs for all the veggies.
We’ve been watering on hot days, but for the most part we just let everything grow on its own.
Everything is growing pretty well except for the spinach. I planted a whole row, but to date, we only have two plants that are growing. I guess we’ll be getting our spinach from the grocery store.
I’m excited for the tomatoes, snow peas, and bush beans to start producing. Look for another garden post later in the summer!
