As I mentioned before, we spent the summer frolicking in the sunshine and I didn’t do a very good job of keeping up with blog posts. However, I can say that I really appreciate that I kept taking pictures, because as the weather starts to get cold and rainy, looking at our summer fun certainly lifts my spirits.
Country Driving ~ Alpacas
As a kid, my family did a lot of traveling…we never flew places, we always drove…lots and lots of driving.
So as a passenger, I’ve always loved to look out the window and let my imagination run wild with the things I see along the way. We were out wine tasting over Memorial Day Weekend with a car full of friends, and in between wineries I caught myself getting wrapped up in the scenery. It’s hard not to…we live in such a beautiful place!
I did my best to capture these alpacas as we went driving by in the car. Such beautiful creatures out sunning themselves on a lovely day in wine country…country driving is simply the best!
2015 Memorial Day Recap ~ Varnum Vintners, A.F. Nichols, Swick Wines, and Medici Vineyards
Our neighbor always has the inside track when it comes to fun wine tasting events. She’s a tasting room manager and knows just about everyone in the industry! So when we were coming up with our itinerary Memorial Day Weekend she mentioned an event we just had to attend…a special tasting at the Historic Medici Vineyard Estate.
2015 Memorial Day Recap ~ Maysara Winery
The Renaissance Man has been talking about Maysara Winery for a while now. They’re known in wine country for their Demeter Certified Biodynamic Vineyard, and we just had to go check it out…wine tasting and land management practices, totally intriguing right? We visited over Memorial Day Weekend with a group including our neighbors and some friends from Portland!
#WineWednesday: Taste Dundee Block Party
Saturday was a busy day in Dundee…we attended the “Taste Dundee Block Party” to kick-off Oregon Wine Month! Yay for the month of May! The celebration was a neighborhood type event held in the Chapter 24 parking lot right off of OR99W. The event featured wine from fifteen Dundee wineries along with small bites from six local restaurants. My kind of neighborhood block party!
#WineWednesday ~ Spring Shipment from Sokol Blosser
Spring wine shipments are here! It’s one of my favorite times of year seeing which wines were included as part of the shipment and to venture out to the wineries to pick them up. Picking up wine shipments is always a great excuse to go visit wine country! I just love the views from Sokol Blosser, we’re members there, and it’s one of my favorite places to hangout on the weekends.
#WineWednesday ~ Valley Wine Merchants
Last Friday night, The Renaissance Man and I both got off work late…it was a loooonnnggg week.
By the time we had dinner, it was already after 7pm, but I really wanted to go into Newberg and explore First Friday! Despite wanting to stay home and hunker down, I managed to successfully convince The Renaissance Man to join me. When we arrived downtown, we popped in and out of a few shops and then wandered into Valley Wine Merchants.
Hiking Harvey Creek Trail to Purple Hands Winery
Last Sunday we went on an adventure! The weather was beautiful with temperatures in the mid to low sixties and not a cloud in the sky. We were trying to figure how we wanted to fill our day, when I simultaneously got a phone call from my Mom and a text message from our Neighbor. Everyone wanted to get outside and do something!
Our neighbors wanted to do some wine tasting, and they also just rescued a little dog named Ginger, so we decided to take Ginger and my parent’s dog Cooper on hike together over to Purple Hands Winery via the Harvey Creek Trail.
#WineWednesday ~ Exploring White Rose
Happy #WineWednesday! I took these photos back in November over the Wine Country Thanksgiving Weekend and wanted to share them with you. Exploring White Rose Estate was such a cool experience, it’s unlike any other tasting room in the Dundee Hills AVA.
#WineWednesday ~ Anne Amie Vineyards
Back in November, we spent a lovely day wine tasting with some friends and family visiting from the East Coast. The Renaissance Man and I love hosting people in Wine Country because the possibilities are endless when it comes to showing people a good time. The Willamette Valley has so much to offer!
