It sure is hard to believe that we’ve had such a mild winter. I just kept thinking that we’d get a hard freeze or some snow…
But to be honest, I’m ok with sunshine. The warm sun feels like a happy hug on my skin, and even our pear trees are starting to feel the love! The espaliers that we planted last summer are beginning to bud, and I’m sure we’ll have full on blooms within the week!
Just look at those buds!
In the weekends ahead, we’ll be doing a small bit of pruning. We’ll also be transferring the trees from their original stakes to the new T-posts. We plan to train the trees to grow horizontal approximately 5-6 feet in each direction and create a “natural tree fence” along the walkway up to the shed.
I am so excited about all of the fruit that we’re going to have this summer, and I know our honeybees will do their job to make sure everything gets pollinated!
Even our lovely cat Whiskey Girl is ready to start roaming the yard and soaking up the sun on the warm concrete patio.
Spring has arrived!
