Tuesday nights in downtown Newberg are rocking! I’ve been seeing signs and twitter posts about Tunes on Tuesday, and last Tuesday night we decided join the fun.
Let me say that one more time, and let it really sink in…we had SO MUCH FUN!
Every Tuesday night during the months of July and August, the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce puts together a summer concert lineup.
On Tuesday night we were treated to the Pagan Jug Band. They played a little bluegrass, folk, southern blues, and good ole’ Americana. I think my favorite instrument by far was the washboard, the woman playing it was rocking out! It was so easy to get lost in beat and start swaying to the music.
What really struck me where all the people out and about on a Tuesday night!? Who knew? Apparently in Newberg, you can party on a Tuesday night and still manage to be in bed by 9pm. Now that’s my kind of mid-week party!
The event also had a big variety of food and beverage choices set up in the Cultural District out in front of the Chehalem Valley Cultural Center. I highly recommend the strawberry lemonade…strawberry mash and freshly made lemonade, delish!
I also got a kick out of watching the pack of kids with balloon swords. They were having way too much fun chasing one another. It reminded me of movie Hook, from when I was a kid!
Oh and these truffle fries were delightful, thin crispy fries with salt and truffle oil! The Renaissance Man and I were fighting over every last fry.
It was the perfect way to spend a summer night in August, and it makes me so thankful to live in the northwest. We have some of the best summers around!
We’ve marked our calendars, have you? Ben Rice will be playing the last show of the year next Tuesday. Hope to see you there!
