Saturday was a busy day in Dundee…we attended the “Taste Dundee Block Party” to kick-off Oregon Wine Month! Yay for the month of May! The celebration was a neighborhood type event held in the Chapter 24 parking lot right off of OR99W. The event featured wine from fifteen Dundee wineries along with small bites from six local restaurants. My kind of neighborhood block party!
We arrived shortly after lunch and the place was already overflowing with guests! So many happy people out and about enjoying the sunshine and good wine. I especially loved the folks who were dressed up in anticipation of the Kentucky Derby, who doesn’t love a good derby hat?
We spent a few hours at the event wandering around, trying different foods, drinking wine, and talking to our neighbors. Yes…our real neighbors! One of the many great things about Dundee is the community. We ran into several of our actual neighbors along with other people we’ve met since moving to Dundee.
This event was also really neat because each of the fifteen wineries was serving both a red and white wine. I’m a fan of whites, so I was happy to try a little Argyle bubbly! The 2011 Vintage Brut was superb…I love the feeling of bubbly dancing across my tongue!
And for those of you who are curious…here is a breakdown of the different wineries! In attendance was Angela Estate, Argyle Winery, Aubichon Cellars, Four Graces, Cathedral Ridge, Chapter 24 Vineyards, Dobbes Family Estate, Domain Trouvere, Duck Pond Cellars, Hyland Estates, Le Cadeau Vineyard, Panther Creek Cellars, Ponzi Vineyards, and Tertulia Cellars! And food was provided by Red Hills Market, Tina’s, Bert’s Chuck Wagon, Babica Hen Cafe, Dundee Bistro, and Red Hills Provincial Dining.
Pretty impressive list considering the ticket to this event was only $20 and included unlimited tastings and small bites!
And did I mention the small bites…upon arriving I quickly spotted our favorite catering truck, Red Hills Market!
And of course, they didn’t disappoint. This little bite of goodness was Wood-Fired Morel, Spring Onion, and Lardon Mac & Cheese…it was absolutely mouth watering. How have I not known about this menu item???
The Renaissance Man and I ate a few small bites while we enjoyed the music…good food, wine, and music…what more could a girl ask for?
Talk about a perfect day in wine country…the best part was being able to walk over to the event from our home! Three cheers for small town living, and for fantastic events like the Taste Dundee Block Party!
