Yesterday was a beautiful day, it was the kind of January Saturday that you dream about! The sun was out, the temperature was in the mid-60s, and I could feel the hints of Spring almost everywhere. Despite having our fair amount of rain this winter, the temperatures have remained mild and I’ve been slowly watching my daffodils peak out of the ground.
While I’m excited for daffodils, I’m also slightly concerned about a late winter freeze. It’s hard to believe I was just planting bulbs back in late November. Keep your fingers crossed that I can make it through till spring without losing all of my bulbs!
The daffodils you see are not the ones I planted in November, but instead they’re the ones I planted a year ago last fall. They look healthy and you can already see a few of the future blooms.
Our neighbor’s daffodils are really taking off! She’ll have yellow blooms in a week or so!
Even our honeybees were super active yesterday! During the winter months they mostly stay in the hives to keep the Queen warm. But the weather was so warm yesterday, I know they couldn’t resist getting out of the hive and spreading their wings!
Three cheers for warm and sunny January days!
