Since moving to Dundee we’ve eaten a fair share of meals at Red Hills Market. The first week we moved in we slept on the floor (because the furniture hadn’t arrived yet), and ate at Red Hills Market every. single. night! It was wonderful, and a memory I hold onto with love.
A few months ago The Renaissance Man and I got around to “liking” Red Hills Market on Facebook and learned that they do a Local’s Night ever Monday. The place is usually packed and we typically run into our neighbors…it really is a local’s night! Every week they prepare a “Special” and do a drink pairing. Sometimes the pairing is wine, other times beer, and my favorite to date were the homemade Margaritas!
Now I’m in the habit of checking my phone Monday afternoon to see what the Special is going to be. On this Monday afternoon, the Special was Wood-fired Pork & Fennel Ragout with Penne Pasta. It looked divine, and we had to go try it out. In addition to ordering the Special, we also got the pizza of the day, a Lamb Marguez, feta, arugula, and asparagus combo.
The Renaissance Man loves to try out the ever rotating beer that Red Hills Market has on tap. If you’re not sure what to get, feel free to ask one of the staff members, they always have great recommendations! Red Hills Market also does a “Tap Takeover” from time to time and features local brewers.
In my opinion, the best part of Red Hills Market is that it feels like a market. They have huge shelves with all sorts of goodies and fun display cases featuring mostly local goods.
And by the time you get done checking out all of the goodies, your food arrives!
Dinner was great, the weather has been fantastic, and the walk to and from Red Hills Market wasn’t bad either! What a Happy Monday!
